Centina was engaged by a repeat client to deliver a major extension to an existing medical centre, including an undercroft car park and upgraded electrical infrastructure. Brought in early in the process, our team provided design, cost, and constructability advice to ensure the project was both practical and efficient.

The original design proposed building over the existing single-level centre, a solution that would have created significant operational disruptions, including shutdown periods, reduced parking, and high costs. Centina proposed an alternative: constructing the extension adjacent to the existing facility. This approach reduced the build cost by an estimated 20%, removed operational disturbances, and accelerated project timeframes.

The two-storey development features a ground-floor car park with access to the new upper-level medical centre via a steel stair and passenger lift. The building’s design incorporates a composite framed structure with a suspended slab over structural steel, complemented by a glazed and lightweight envelope. Delivered under a managing contractor arrangement, Centina worked alongside the design team to finalise documentation from 70% design through to IFC, ensuring the client’s vision was realised in a smarter, more cost-effective way.
