Estimator – Commercial

As a Construction Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting informed decision-making from the earliest stages of a project. Reporting to the Pre-Construction Manager, you will provide accurate cost planning, first-principle estimating, and clear commercial insight, helping ensure risks and costs are understood and managed from day one.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare first-principle take-offs and detailed estimates using CostX, Cubit, or similar software, with a strong focus on accuracy and detail
• Develop cost plans across concept, schematic, and detailed design phases to support early and informed decision-making
• Manage tender processes through EstimateOne, including trade packaging and subcontractor engagement
• Conduct thorough tender evaluations, ensuring transparency, scope alignment, and value for clients
• Support early procurement methodologies including Managing Contractor, ECI, and Design & Construct, providing clarity and certainty throughout pre-construction
• Identify value engineering opportunities while maintaining Centina’s high standards of quality and safety
• Work collaboratively with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams to achieve best project outcomes
• Maintain cost databases, pricing schedules, and historical cost information
• Assist with post-tender clarifications, negotiations, and handover to the delivery team
• Contribute to managing risk, cost, and quality outcomes in line with Centina’s values

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator within the construction industry
• Demonstrated experience in first-principle estimating and detailed take-offs
• Proficiency in CostX, Cubit, or similar take-off software
• Strong working knowledge of EstimateOne
• High level of commercial awareness and cost planning capability
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate work
• Clear, honest communication style and ability to work in partnership with others
• Passion for construction and pride in delivering high-quality outcomes

Qualifications

• Qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building, or a related discipline (preferred but not essential)
