Centina partnered with Cheesman Architects and the client to deliver the redevelopment of the iconic Woodville Hotel, blending tradition with contemporary design to create a welcoming and functional hospitality venue.
The works were delivered in a live environment, ensuring the hotel remained fully operational throughout construction. This required careful daily coordination with facility management, shift work, and tight control of construction costs to minimise disruption to staff and patrons.
Stage one, completed in February 2015, introduced new male and female amenities, a sports bar, lounge bar, and cool room facilities. Stage two, completed in March 2015, transformed the front bar, gaming facility, and amenities, while also delivering a new alfresco dining area, car park, and feature beer garden.
The beer garden stands out as a signature design element, showcasing a five-metre-high solid sandstone rotunda with brick blade piers, framed by a glass façade. Inside, the space features stone pavements, timber decking, soffits, feature tiling, polished timber floors, and bespoke joinery – enhancing the hotel’s character while creating a vibrant space for patrons.
A family-owned business since 1974, the Woodville Hotel continues to serve as a local landmark, and Centina is proud to have played a role in its evolution.
